Starsand Island Seed Budget Planner

A good return per plot is only useful if you can afford the seeds. Work out how many plots you can plant today while keeping coins aside for the rest of your farm.

Worksheet updated October 14, 2026 · Crop presets: August 22, 2026 snapshot

Before you buy seeds

Keep cash for the rest of your farm.

Preset: Beetroot Seeds. Listed season: Summer, Autumn. Planting place: Farmland. Check access and season in your save.

Yield starts at the listed midpoint (4–8). Edit price and yield to match your save. Choosing another crop reloads those three preset values. Values are not saved after leaving this page.

One seed per plot, one harvest, and sale of every harvested item. Fertilizer, machines, labor, recipes, later harvests, and shop stock are not included. Unsold crops are not cash.

Worked example: 1,000 coins and 25 empty plots

The example loads Beetroot from the saved crop dataset: 55 coins per seed, 23 coins per harvested item, and a listed yield of 4–8 items. These are editable presets, not a promise that the same prices apply to every game build.

  1. Keep 200 coins aside. The seed budget is 1,000 − 200 = 800 coins.
  2. At 55 coins per seed, 800 ÷ 55 buys 14 whole seeds. That plants 14 of 25 plots.
  3. Seeds cost 14 × 55 = 770 coins, leaving 230 in your wallet.
  4. At the midpoint yield of 6, selling the first harvest brings 14 × 6 × 23 = 1,932 coins.
  5. Net after the seed purchase is 1,932 − 770 = 1,162 coins. Your wallet after selling is 230 + 1,932 = 2,162 coins.

To fill all 25 plots and still keep 200 coins aside, you would need 25 × 55 + 200 = 1,575 coins. The current plan is 575 coins short. That is the useful next decision: leave some land empty, choose a cheaper seed, or wait for more cash.

Test a lower yield before spending

The midpoint of a listed range is a comparison assumption. It is not a measured probability distribution. For the same 14 Beetroot plots, change the yield field from 6 to 4: first-harvest sales fall to 1,288 coins, and net after seeds becomes 518. At 8 items per plot, net would be 1,806.

If your plan only works at the top of the range, reduce the seed purchase or leave a larger reserve. Keep crops needed for quests, animal feed, or recipes out of the amount you expect to sell. The worksheet assumes every item included in its harvest estimate is sold.

Choose between affordable crops

Use the main crop profit planner to shortlist crops available in your season and planting area. Then return here and load one candidate at a time with the same wallet, reserve, and plot count. A crop with a higher profit per plot can leave more plots empty when its seeds cost more.

This is one crop and one purchase at a time. Switching presets compares alternative uses of the same budget; it does not create a mixed planting plan. Shop stock, seed unlocks, fertilizer purchases, and building costs must be checked separately.

Before committing coins, use the first-harvest timing worksheet to check whether the crop has enough time to mature before your chosen deadline.

Seed budget questions

Does cash after harvest mean profit?

No. Cash after harvest includes the coins you already had and did not spend. Net after seed purchase measures the change from the modeled seed purchase and harvest sale. Neither figure deducts fertilizer, processing inputs, or other farm expenses.

What if I already own the seeds?

If all requested seeds are already in storage, set the seed price to zero to model new cash spending. That excludes their past cost. For a mix of owned and purchased seeds, run separate plans and keep the shared wallet and plot limits in mind.

Will this count later harvests or processed goods?

No later harvests are included. For raw crop sales, use the per-item sale price. A processed item may consume several crops and other ingredients; its full selling price should not be entered as the price of one raw crop.
